I was unsure of how my daughter would be when she moved into her first apartment, so being a worried mom I took her to the store and we stocked her apartment of things she would need. We ended up getting many things including an electric can opener, toaster and coffee pot for the kitchen. She was happy we were able to find them all in green, which is the color she opted for the design of the appliances.

I have a friend that runs a child care business in her home and one day she asked me to pick up an electric can opener because hers went out. I stopped by the appliance store and got her a great one that matched her kitchen setup and it had a knife sharpener and a magnetized lid catcher attached to it. I thought that was a good idea so the lid does not slip down inside the actual can.

I planned things out to the tee all the way from the flooring and paint to the little items like the silverware and the electric can opener. There was a color scheme for everything and now years later we both love it together.

My mother is no retentive on how things match in her home it is actually comical. When my father broke the toaster one morning, but that afternoon every small kitchen appliance had been replaced with new matching ones. When I asked her why she did that she simply told me she could not have one toaster not match the electric can opener not match the coffee pot. I just smiled and gave her hugs, what else can you do?

I love working for a local appliance store. I get to see the newest gadgets before anyone else. Often times we get to try them out or use the floor model. One day I desperately needed a can opener for my lunch and I had no other option but to use the display electric can opener we had up on the shelf. Actually in my surprise it worked really well and I ended up getting one for my house too.

It was a last ditch effort I know, but it had to be done. When she told me all she wanted was a nice electric can opener I was ecstatic. I knew I could go right to the local appliance store and get a nice one for her.

My husband is one of those husbands that buy a gift for me, but actually for the house. You know the ones I mean. So it was no shocker to me when I opened a Christmas gift and realized I got a brand new electric can opener. It was actually very nice and yes we needed a new one. I just wish he would consult someone before he buys anymore gifts.
